on vacation

My boss is on vacation. (Not me. I don't have any vacation this year. Well, actually I did, but that's another story for another day when I have more energy and you have more time to read.)
So my boss is on vacation. And everybody misses him. He's the leader. He makes us laugh. And picks up my apple that I've brought for afternoon snack and helps himself to an enormous bite before returning it to its place. He asks us all how we're doing and thinks its acceptable to leave thirty minutes early when I have a doctor's appointment. He thinks family is more important than work. And leads a morning devotional to talk about the one and only true God and His son, Jesus (if you'd like to attend). Did I tell you that I work at a bank? It's true. You can be in the world but not of it. You can encourage those you see in your everyday life. You can make people laugh AND love Jesus with your whole heart. You can do it if you're a clerk or a doctor or a student or a bank president. . .So he's on vacation. And I'm not. : )

Simple Start

I went to visit some dear friends in The Woodlands this weekend. One commented, "For someone who purposes to live a simple life, it seems that you face more difficulties than anyone I know." I had to agree and wonder. . .

Here I sit. I don't know much. But Jesus is on the throne. And somehow, my heart knows rest. Not "answers" nor "fulfilled dreams", but HOPE nonetheless. Jesus is Lord and I will worship Him with my ridiculously "simple" life.
